Central Court

This excellent housing facility is located in North Road, and is adjacent to both the main YMCA building and the YMCA Hostel.  Built in 1993, Central Court provides regularly maintained and decorated, intermediate or next stage ‘move-on’ accommodation from the Hostel for single, homeless people between the ages of 18-55 years.   This twenty-four hour supported accommodation is offered on a Licence Basis.

Entry into Central Court is via a face-to-face application and interview including a risk assessment and references from outside agencies including any employer.  A support plan is agreed once accommodation is offered.

Each fully furnished unit contains two single person bed-sitting rooms, a shared kitchen and bathroom for the exclusive use of the unit residents.  The cleaning of each individual bed-sit is the resident’s own responsibility.  While residents cater for themselves, they have great facilities as each kitchen is well-equipped with cooking utensils, a cooker and a fridge.

Room checks are undertaken on a regular basis and this forms part of the Licence Agreement.

The funding for this accommodation is currently via residents personal payments, Housing Benefit and Supporting People Grant.

Facilities available to residents include laundry equipment, a payphone and a full range of activities that link into the main program of events.

All clients have access to the Health and Homeless team services who run a 2 hour surgery in the Hostel premises every week.

Housing Officers and Support Workers work closely with the external support agencies that have contact with our clients to ensure as far as possible a holistic approach to clients support needs.

The clients are limited to a maximum stay of 2 years with the flexibility to move-on to our next stage of accommodation at Norman Salisbury Court or to independent housing in the community. Throughout a client’s stay great emphasise is placed on the need to move into independent living.

Each client is encouraged to join our Foyer Project.
