Scouts are the original and oldest section of the Scouting family and Scouts get involved in all kinds of challenging activities which are both safe and FUN!
Being outdoors is an important part of being a Scout and half the Programme is given over to taking part in both the traditional outdoor Scouting skills, like camping, survival and cooking as well as a wide range of more adventurous activities, like abseiling, canoeing or orienteering.
Scout troops usually meet weekly but Scouts also get involved in extra weekend events like hikes, competitions and camps.
St. Helens YMCA is the oldest surviving scout troop in the world, celebratings its centenary from February 2008. Scouts is held in the main North Road Building on Friday 7.30p.m-9.30p.m and is aimed 101/2 -141/2 year old boys and girls.
