Housing Introduction

St. Helens YMCA is a Registered Social Landlord, providing supported and general housing to the community.  Many of the people who come to live with us have several social aspects to their lifestyles which means some kind of supported accommodation is ideal for their needs.

We have been very successful in developing and managing our three stages of housing and our system is viewed as a reference model for other UK based YMCAs offering housing. New applicants normally come firstly into the Hostel, where they will receive full support from our specially trained staff via an agreed support plan and risk assessment.  After a while, people are encouraged to move into our semi-supported accommodation at Central Court, which allows residents more independence in lifestyle decisionmaking, though support is on hand whenever the need arises. Finally, the third part of our three part housing scheme involves an opportunity to move  to our fully independent, general needs accommodation at Norman Salisbury Court.
